The Datsun 1600 SSS (Super Sport Sedan) achieved an enviable reputation and accolades in its time.

It’s resistance, safety and performance earned successive victories in local and international rallying events, including the Rally TAP and the toughest rally in the world, the East-African Safari.

More recently, for the same reasons mentioned above, it has been the «obvious» choice for many drivers participating in historic regularity rallies, such as the Rally de Portugal Histórico, Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique, Rally Costa Brava Històric, Legend Boucles de Bastogne, among others.

This 1978 Datsun 1600 SSS was fully restored in 2011, it was applied a 1970 East-African Safari Rally evocative livery and it was prepared and equipped for those historic regularity rallies. It is in very good general condition.

The reliable in-line 4-cylinder engine with 1,595cc of capacity and 110hp of power is completely original, with only a few components installed that add even more reliability, such as the electric fuel pumps and an extra electric cooling fan.

The suspension is custom made with rallying in mind, a little stiffer, but without compromising comfort. It also has an anti-approach bar from the well-known Japanese brand «CUSCO» applied.

The gearbox is also original and the rear axle has a limited slip differential.

Inside we find a half rollcage, identical to the one used in the official cars back in the days, classic OMP bucket seats, OMP sports belts, OMP sports steering wheel in Alcantara and all the necessary instrumentation for regularity rallies, such as the Blunik with digital display for the driver, Brantz 2S, Brantz Electronic Speedtable, Big Digit chronograph watch and map reading flashlight for the navigator.
